Post Game: Mets 9, Tigers 1

The Mets defeated the Tigers by the score of 9-1 today at Tradition Field.

The Mets got an outstanding four innings out of Oliver Perez today, as he walked three and didn’t allow a hit.

The Mets also got another solid outing from Hisanori Takahashi, as he allowed just one hit and struck out three in three innings.

The scoring was non-existent until the Mets exploded for nine runs on the strength of four home runs in the seventh inning – a solo home run from David Wright and Gary Matthews Jr., a two run home run from Daniel Murphy and a three run home run from Jason Bay.

The Mets also got an RBI single from Luis Castillo in the seventh.

Jenrry Mejia allowed a run in the eighth, as he gave up a leadoff double to Casper Wells and then with one out, Audy Cirasco singled him in.

Mejia went on to pitch a scoreless ninth to secure the victory for the Mets.

Up Next:

The Mets head to Roger Dean Stadium once again tomorrow to take on the Marlins in Jupiter. Game time is 1:05 pm.
