According to Rafael Tejera of the Venezuelen newspaper El Nacional, RHP Kelvim Escobar will decide on April 1 whether or not he will pitch in 2010, or take the season to recover from weakness in his shoulder.

According to Tejera, Escobar will continue to work on strengthening his shoulder, but will not make a decision about pitching this year until after he attempts to throw again.
…even if Escobar progresses, there is no telling how far away he is from contributing at the Major League level again…he would basically have to start from scratch and go through an entire Spring Training, including bullpens and simulated games before even pitching in either an extended Spring game or a minor league game, and that’s assuming his arm responds…
